The start of this year came with the start of enlightenment. There was so much in my life that I needed to declutter and I had been doing so with finding out that I was pregnant. I had slowly begun to remove people and things from my life that didn't add value to it or made me feel that I wasn't worthy of love or friendship. I decided to leave people alone and not force up into them or their affairs and focus on what was important. God had given me three beautiful souls to guide and a husband who needed me (it seems for everthing) and my mission was somehow my purpose and my vision. I finally knew what I had to do. I knew my purpose.
I have been declutter for years. It helps to foster a peaceful and healthy life when you don't have clutter crowding your space.
It doesn't mean that your home is filled with trash but let's face it, some of it is garbage-shoe boxes from the footwear that you gave to your sister, glasses cases for glasses you lost on the train, broken tupperware that you can't store anything in because, well, it's broken. Or that blouse that hasn't fit you since you were 19.
I am here to tell you that it's time to get rid of it. It takes zero effort and you will feel liberated when you're done. I will even do you one better because I know you have the medicine cabinet that you keep adding to but never go through. That bottle of children's Tylenol you've had since Jimmy was a baby, guess what that shit's expired and Jimmy is in college now so he'll be needing something stronger for his pain.
Truth is I am not here to get you to throw stuff out but since March started I have been trying to use stuff up.
I toss the expired stuff, the stuff that don't work anymore, the stuff I can't donate because it's old and moldy and mildew.
I only give away gently used or new stuff.
If it's a liquid lipstick or lip gloss that I have used it usually goes to my sisters. Lipsticks that are in regular bullet form can be sanitized and donated but I usually end up giving them to my sisters. If I only swatched it but never actually wear it then it's fair game for friends who might be interested.
Now let's talk about the stuff that I want to use up. Stuff I like, that works for me that I can't seem to commit to using up for one reason or another.
Akila Facial Rejuvenation Cream - I can't get over how reminiscent this smells, it's like something straight out of my childhood. It's chock full of really great ingredients but it often feels quite heavy on my skin so if I apply a tups less than I normally do-we could make it work.
L'Oréal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care moisturizer for extra dry - I have a lengthy review of this here on the blog - so I won't go into detail as it regards specs but truth is it holds its own as a stand alone product and I love how it makes my skin look and feel but we just haven't had time for each other and with all the other skin things I was trying to finish up I kinda just put it to the back of the shelf and forgot about it.
Bath & Body Works Waikiki Beach Coconut 24 hour moisture ultra shea body cream - I have used it a few time and it smells so so good. I love how rich this formula is. I hate putting stuff on my skin so it's a pain trying to use up lotions and stuff sometimes.
Rise N Shine Online 100% Pure Castor Oil - was sent to me near the end of last year. This is going to be the most challenging to use up because it's a huge bottle and for as much as I have been using it I have barely made a dent. I have more than half bottle left and I can't use it on my hair, scalp or body because it make me itch. It's super thick in consistency and it almost feels sticky to the touch but that just tells you it's authentic. I may try to use this with olive oil which should help to thin it out a bit but I don't know yet.
BioAqua Natural Honey Lip Balm - I love this stuff and as much as I pile it on I should be done with it by the end of this month if not sooner. I talk more about this product in my lip loves post.
MAC Cosmetics Lip Conditioner - I talked about this in my lip loves post as well. It's one of my favorite products from MAC. For as long as I have been using it. I am surprised that I still have as much as a full tube left.
Beauty Treats Almond Creme Lip Scrub - I have less than half of this left and it's a really good lip scrub. At this point it's at holy grail status even though I don't use it as often these days. Let's see if I can finish it off by May.
